What are the common problems when using fire sprinklers

Mar 13, 2025

As an important part of modern building fire safety, the reliability of the core component of the fire sprinkler system is directly related to the overall effectiveness of the system. The failure of the sprinkler nozzle is one of the main reasons for the failure of the system, which is manifested in leakage, no water spraying or mis-spraying. Leakage failures usually originate from the aging, damage or improper installation of the nozzle seal, causing water to leak from the nozzle. This not only wastes precious water resources, but also may affect the normal water pressure of the system, thereby reducing the efficiency of fire extinguishing. In addition, impurities and dirt inside the nozzle may also cause the nozzle to be blocked, and then the water flow cannot be sprayed in time when a fire occurs, thereby delaying the fire extinguishing time. The mis-spraying phenomenon may be caused by improper installation of the nozzle, interference from external environmental factors (such as wind force, temperature changes, etc.), or inaccurate system debugging.

In addition to sprinkler nozzles, the alarm valve group in the fire sprinkler system is also a common failure point. As a key component connecting the nozzle and the water source, the failure of the alarm valve group may cause the system to fail to start in time or a false alarm. If the gasket inside the alarm valve group is aged, damaged or improperly installed, it may cause water leakage and affect the normal operation of the system. At the same time, if the control valve of the alarm valve group is not completely closed or blocked, the alarm pipeline will not be able to drain effectively, which will affect the alarm function of the system. In addition, the debugging and installation quality of the alarm valve group is crucial to its stability. If the debugging is inaccurate or the installation does not meet the standards, the system may not be able to respond quickly when a fire occurs.

As an important monitoring component in the fire sprinkler system, the failure of the water flow indicator should not be ignored. The water flow indicator is responsible for monitoring the water flow state in the pipeline. If a failure occurs, the system will not be able to accurately determine the location and scope of the fire. The reasons for the failure of the water flow indicator may include obstruction of debris in the pipe cavity, failure to adjust the nut and contact to the right place, or circuit wiring falling off. These problems may cause the water flow indicator to fail to work properly, thereby affecting the efficiency of the entire fire extinguishing system.
